Major Site Update Completed

I recently finished a major site update. I uploaded an additional 200 or so resource documents. I also added folders for personal stories, Spanish language documents and one for faith communities. A large number of documents deal with school and social transition while attending school with samples of how to approach the school’s administration. Under the tab”Blog Posts and Updates” all of the new documents are listed.

Updated Resource Documents

I have added documents concerning the rescinding of the Obama administration’s Dear Colleague letter for transgender students, including the revised Dear College letter, FAQ’s regarding Title IX and a sample letter to send to legislators.

Also updated are Lancet Journal articles on Transgender health and an update Web Sites Resources documents with new web sites listed.


Trump Is Poised to Remove Protections on Transgender Students’ Rights

“A draft order would reverse directives put in place last year by the Obama administration to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms of their choice.”

I have loaded the document “FAQ on the Withdrawal of Federal Guidance on
Transgender Students” from the National Center for Transgender Equality in the School Rights & Policy under the Department of Education folder.

University of Arkansas Abruptly Removes Transgender Health Benefits

After a Nationwide injunction on enforcement of the ACA’s gender anti-discrimination provision by Federal Texas judge, Reed O’Connor, the University of Arkansas removes transition related care benefits.

ACLU Website for Legislation Affecting LGBT Rights

This website is updated every Monday with information on bills across the country that affect LGBT rights, including:

  • Affirmative Nondiscrimination Bills
  • Harmful anti-LGBT Bills
  • Religious Exemption Bills
  • Bills Pre-Empting Local Protections

New fronts emerge in the bathroom wars

Alabama Wants Monitors in Bathrooms

Alabama has proposed legislation that would require restroom attendants to monitor all mixed-gender facilities, including gender-neutral bathrooms in Senate Bill 1.
